What you owe, per segment

• 6 hours of direct care observation — watching your fellow deliver evaluation, treatment, or counseling in real time.
• At least 3 of those hours in person — per segment and per mentor. This is a subset of the hours above, not an addition to them.
• 6 hours of indirect mentorship — record review, case conference monitoring, consultation.
• A completed CFSI at the close of the segment, with every skill on the inventory observed and evaluated within that segment.

None of this carries over. A generous first segment does not cover a thin second one, and a shortfall discovered in week 11 of a 12-week segment is difficult to fix.

Why the record matters to you

ASHA places tracking responsibility on the fellow, and where the fellow’s record and the supervisor’s disagree, the fellow’s governs. That cuts both ways: if you delivered supervision that never made it into their log, you have no independent record of it. Agreeing on one shared ledger at the start of the fellowship protects both of you.

The supervision checker will tell you where a segment currently stands, and the segment planner will show you where your boundaries fall.
